Wonderful analysis and deconstruction of the Frankenstein angle in the movie. You've marvelously captured the parallel between the iconic scene in James Whale's Frankenstein & the equally iconic pseudo-analogous scene in the movie. The 'frame within a frame' was a truly amazing observation!

Yes indeed, there's no greater art than when it imitates life. But when it is the other way round, things get that much more captivating :)

When you mean "child" (and not pre-adolescent), I guess most children in recent Iranian cinema should get a place in the list. Yes, Ana's is one of the all time greats

Apart from that, the little girl Estike in Satantango, Danny in The Shining, Victor in The Wild Child, Ivan in Ivan's Childhood and The Kid in The Kid are all performances to be cherished...

Nice images, interesting parallels here - art cinema being inspired by popular mainstream Hollywood. And one of the great child performances - to be cherised alongside that of Little Ahmed in Kiarostami's 87 film, 'Where is the friend's house?'. Actually, what other child performances can you think of comparable to that of Ana Torent?
